We felt it was important to incorporate components of the old trophy since there is such a long history associated with this award.Hanners one of a kind bronze marlin sculpture makes this a truly unique trophy, said Buddy Finch of JBA Morrell Studios. The refurbished trophy will ac-commodate an additional 44 years worth of winners. This restoration is a fitting way to honor our past winners and will certainly incentivize future competitors. It is an impressive award highlighting some incredible big game anglers, said WPBFC President Tom 'Buzz' Bzura.Fly Tying Workshop SuccessOne of several socials that have been hosted by the WPBFC in re-cent years has been our fly tying workshops.Attendees have enjoyed informal instruction from some very accomplished fly tiers includ-ing Capt. Scott Hamilton, Darren Selznick from Old Florida Fly Shop, Capt. Patrick Smith, Barry Brimacomb and oth-ers.WPBFC board member George Patane also plays a supportive role helping the event run smoothly. Brendan Keating and Mark Miller are two fly anglers always enthusiastically in attendance. Extra fly tying vises and fly tying material are provided by the club for those who do not have their own gear so that they could get some hands on training.Patterns like Clouser Minnows and Hamilton Eat Me Flies are some of the flies that attendees have learned to tie in the past.WPBFC Fly Tying Workshops are meant to help like-minded anglers gather in an informal setting to share their knowledge and skills with each other.Follow the club's social mediaand watch for additional workshops to be scheduled on the calendar. Is Your Hand Scale Certified?Hand scales are a convenient way to get accurate weights on fish you intend to enter in club contests.Be sure your scale is certified yearly.Hand scales can be certified at the WPBFC clubhouse or at local tackle shops including Lott Bros. in North Palm Beach, Fishing Headquarters in Jupiter and Tuppen's in Lake Worth.W estP almB eachF ishingc luB"
