b"Annual Fishing Contest WinnersBy Tom Bzura, WPBFC PresidentI ts always refreshing to look at the final results of the West Palm Beach Fishing Clubs (WPBFC) Annual Fishing Contest and see just how many incredible fish were caught throughout the angling year (November 1stOctober 31st). When you see catches like a 44 lb. 8 oz. dolphin caught by Kyle Igneri, an 8 lb. 7 oz. largemouth bass caught by Charlie Isiminger, or a 33 lb. 5 oz. blackfin tuna caught by Bobbie Nettles, you know youre always just one bite away from the fish of a lifetime.All of these fish were caught in Florida waters. Both adult and junior anglers entered a variety of different spe-cies in numerous tackle categories. Brady Zabel of Jupiter earned the title of Junior Angler of the Year in 2024, demonstrating true Grand Champion Angler2024,angling skill and dedication to fishing.BetweenJunior Amanda Thaw school and other extracurricular activities that kidsAngler of are busy with, it requires a true effort for these youngthe Year anglers to make the time to target the appropriate species needed2024, to qualify for this award.When theyre passionate about fishingBrady and the outdoors, its a sacrifice theyre more than willing to make.ZabelBrady logged a great angling rsum, posting a total of 6 winning fish with 5 being in the contest casting categories.Brady caught a 17+ pound snook and a 3 pound pompano on plug 16 tackle, and swept the largemouth bass casting categories with the winning fish on fly 20, spin 8 and plug 16, all caught with an artificial lure.He demonstrated true angling skill fishing for this award.The Grand Champion Adult Angler award is arguably the WPBFCs highest angling honor recognizing the best fisherman, or woman, in the club.A special congratulations goes out to Amanda Thaw of Palm Beach Gardens for posting truly impressive catches, inshore and offshore, to earn this title.Amanda logged a 30+ pound dolphin, a 20+ pound barracuda and amberjack on 12 pound tackle, a 16+ pound bluefish, a 4 pound ladyfish, and many other nice fish on light tackle with artificial lures, totaling 9 winning fish on the final contest standings.Amanda is now a 2-time recipi-ent of this award.The WPBFC is happy to have her and the Thaw family so actively participating together in club angling programs.We are proud to have her name engraved again on the perpetual Annual Contest Grand Champion trophy in the clubhouse.Great things happen when youre spend-ing a lot of time on the water.The healthy competition is a good sign that anglers are going after this prestigious award each year, along with all the bragging rights that come with it. Lastly, over 30 trophies and new PENN Fishing rod & reel combos were awarded to WPBFC PeeKyle Igneri's 44.5 lb. mahi took the Wee Champions, kids age 9 and under, who entered a fish in the AnnualUnlimited Gen. tackle category.2024 Pee Wee winners Contest.The Club has a long history of keeping kids excited about fishing.The prizes are a way to acknowledge their efforts and help cultivate the next generation of anglers who are sure to catch many more impressive fish in the future.
