b'moreAshton Mathias Anders Emery LanahanOhlenschlaegerPee WeesKeeping Kids Excited About FishingT eaching kids how to cast a fishing rod never fails to generate big smiles.Nowhere is this more evident than at the annual LagoonFest Kids Casting Zone on the Flagler Drive waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach each November.The educational outreach event is produced each year by Palm Beach Countys Department of Environmental Resources Management (ERM).West Palm Beach Fishing Club volunteers help teach basic casting skills to eager participants.For many of the youngsters this is their first experience holding a fishing rod.Not only do the kids learn the fundamentals of casting, but they also catch fishalbeit plastic fish!Plus, every kid goes home with a brand-new fishing rod, reel, and Isla & Bellatackle kit.Several hundred rod and reel combos, donated by the Clubs charitable founda-Campbell tion through the Rods & Reels for Kids program, have been given away in recent years.The Fishing Clubs founda-tion also donates new rods & reels to worthy youth groups in the community throughout the year keeping kids excited about fishing and connected to the water.Thank you to all those who donate to the Rods & Reels for Kids program and to our incredible volunteers!48 W estP almB eachF ishingc luB'
