Over $21,000 was netted from the popular fundraiser. The PBCFF is grate- ful for the year-round support from Ande Monofilament, reel repair expert Bill Watson, rod repair specialist Chris "The Rod God' Kriendler, and our 'King Flea', Capt. Rick Ross. Dozens of other volunteers work tirelessly cleaning, organizing and pricing items in preparation of the event. Many thanks also to Brown Moving & Storage for assisting with delivering the goods each year. Don't forget, the PBCFF accepts donations of unwanted fishing & marine related items all year long! We look for- ward to doing it all over again next April. photos courtesy of Leonard Bryant Photography Marine Yard Sale Remains A Hit Early birders line up for the opening.... This group of kids (pictured at right) purchased a variety of gear at this year's sale and promptly went fishing along the nearby Flagler Drive seawall. They proceeded to catch jacks, snook and even a grouper! They returned to the sale to get more tackle! The Juno Beach Fishing Pier recently purchased a few WPBFC Snook Slings. Turns out the sling is not only good for ethically weighing big snook and other varieties of fish, but also for safely releasing them. Rather than toss snook over the rail from such a high perch, or trying to get them to swim out of a hoop-style net, the club’s Snook Sling is being used to gently lower the fish into the water for their release. A set of ropes attached to each ring- eye facilitates opening and closing the sling. There is a great video on the pier’s face book page demonstrating the sling in action. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has also recognized the Snook Sling's value as a weighing and releasing tool; they purchased seven of the slings earlier this year to be used in their outreach programs. The Fishing Club has shipped slings to trout anglers in Alaska, bonefishermen in the Keys and striper fishermen in New Jersey, all of whom want to minimize stress on the fish they are catching, weighing and releasing. WPBFC Snook Slings cost $65 and are available at Fishing Headquarters in Jupiter, (561) 743-7335 and at the WPBFC, (561) 832-6780.
