TM 330 CLEMATIS ST. ~ 561.833.7827 MY MEATS ATE REAL VEGGIES If you stroll the docks at the Sailfish Marina on Singer Island you will see some of the finest sportfishing boats found anywhere along the eastern seaboard. Among them is the Miss Budweiser, a 1961 Rybovich (Hull #49), designed and built by legendary boat builders Tommy, Emil & JohnnyRybovich at Rybovich & Sons Boat Works. The classic sport fishing boat is owned by lifetime West Palm Beach Fishing Club member Michael Flanigan. She was the first triple diagonally planked hull and only the second boat in history at the time to be built using the “Cold- Mold” process, which makes her more nimble in the water. Additionally, she was the first sport fishing boat to have a mezzanine style cockpit, adding to her comfort. These were pioneering changes in boat building that set the stage for construction methods that continue to be used to this day. The boat was originally commissioned by the late Jim Kimberly a former WPBFC member, but was soon purchased by Anheuser- Busch for entertaining Gussie Busch’s friends, family and whole- salers. The Miss Budweiser remained part of the Anheuser-Busch tradition for decades until Michael bought her in 2010. As an A-B wholesaler and Gussie Busch’s grandson, Michael had fished on her many times and always revered the boat. In 2012, he began her renovation and met fellow WPBFC member Michael Rybovich, the son of Emil Rybovich. Together the two rebuilt her in honor of her roots - world class quality and fine Budweiser heritage. Today, she is a fully functional and productive charter fishing boat, outfitted with Cummins QSM 11 engines, the latest fishing equipment, top of the line Furuno radar, Murray fighting chairs and a beautiful air-conditioned salon. In addition to charters, she’s been in tournaments, winning the Abaco Blue Marlin Invi- tational back-to-back in 2014 and 2015, also earning awards for the best crew and best angler. In addition to donating trips for West Palm Beach Fishing Club events, Michael Flanigan and the Miss Bud- weiser Crew proudly partnered with the club last year to provide a day of fun and fishing for a group of visiting Wounded Warriors. According to Captain Bill Davis, “The guys were new to this kind of fishing and, although it was a slow day, they all really appreciated it.” The club is very grateful to have such a special boat and crew involved with it’s annual Wound Warrior Fishing Day.
