30 West Palm Beach Fishing Club club outing news Even though it was an ‘inshore’ outing, WPBFC members found themselves dealing with ‘offshore-like’ conditions during the club’s one-day outing to the waters of the St. Lucie River and Indian River Lagoon. A calm morning quickly gave way to 25 knot winds making it difficult to dodge the wind on this par- ticular early March day. Despite the forecast, approximately 30 members in a dozen boats departed Sandsprit Park to meet the challenge. While no large fish were caught, there certainly was an impressive variety of species landed. John Lang bested a bonefish earning the Outstanding Catch Award. Tommy Twyford caught a total of nine different species to win the Mixed Bag Award. Marcelo Martin caught the Larg- est Redfish and Peter Beck caught the Largest Trout. Ryan Hullihan proved to be the snook master winning awards for the Largest Snook and Most Snook Releases. Bobby & Katie Weight were the Outstanding Junior Anglers. Thank you to outing coordinator Bill Buendel who helped bring all the pieces of the event together and to Bob Weigt who once again volunteered to cook BBQ pork for all the participants upon their return from the wind whipped waters.
