The Louis S. Boski award for Outstanding Angling Achievement is awarded to the individual who makes the most outstanding catch or release, or who makes a unique angling contribution to the tournament. The Tournament Committee will determine if a catch, angler or team is worthy of recognition. The trophy is not always presented. The award is presented by the West Palm Beach Fishing Club in honor of the late Lou Boski, an active WPBFC member who set the Atlantic sailfish single day catch record of 83 releases in 1980. 1999: Fishtales - Suzie Donnellan & Jay and Bonnie Carpenter: girls released 7 sailfish in 40 minute period 2000: CommOcean - Gwen Hahn: caught and released 7 sailfish last day of Derby 2001: Fishtales- Bonnie Carpenter: after a 1 hour, 20 minute battle released an estimated 100 pound sailfish 2002: Tuff Cookie - Sean Quinn: lead his team to a sailfish quad catch and release from small boat 2004: Fubar - Mike Peligini: caught & released his first ever blue marlin (est. 90 lbs.) 2005: Man-O-Warrior - Andrew Simko (age 12) caught and released his 1st & 2nd ever sailfish 2006: Catch One - Mark Wodlinger: jumped overboard to catch a sailfish 2007: DosAmigos-SteveAlexander:caught&releasedasailondeadbaitfrom23’boat(smallestinfleet)in6-8ft.seas 2008: Drag’nSlayer-JoeGarberoglio:5sailfishcaught&releasedfrom25’boatunderextremeseaconditions,Day1 2009:Vic&BethNelsonofNewMilford,CT,havingfishedtheDerbyreligiouslyforover30years 2010:PatO’Hara&Team‘CoolBreeze’:smallestboatinfleet(27’)&consistentlyonlyallfemaleteamintournament 2011: JustinLord,fishingaboardthe‘Barefoot’caughta42lb.wahoousingalightmonofilamentleaderandasinglecirclehook 2012:Virginia‘Ginny’TurneyAdams,82yearsyoung,released2sailfishwhilefishingaboardthe‘ReelLucky’ 2015:ScottRobins,fishingaboardthe‘WeezInTheKeys’landeda138.8lb.yellowfintuna Recent Boski Trophy Winners...
